The Level 2 Referee Course
The level 2 Referee's Course is held in conjunction with the UWHNZ U18 Interzone tournament. The course is presented by Murray Brooks, (UWHNZ's National Level 2 Instructor, CMAS Referee Director 1986 - 2006) & comprises a three hour theory component, a written exam and a weekend of practial Refereeing.
Although the substantive material is similar to the Level1 course, Greater emphasis is placed on the interpretive skills of the Referee. For an illustration please read R. Feist's discussion document

UWHNZ Accreditation Requirements
UWHNZ has adopted the following criteria for appointing an individual to Level 2 Referee status
An individual will be accredited Level Two Pending Referee status, provided they already hold Level One accreditation and have
a. Passed the Level Two Theory Test as set by UWHNZ past and
b. Refereed and logged one hundred Level One Games at either Interclub or School Level, with twenty of those games having been refereed at one of the following competitions: North Islands, Schools Nationals or Interclub Nationals. Referees must provide their log of these games and have this log signed by an accredited and endorsed by a Level Three Referee
An individual will be accredited Level Two Referee status, provided they already hold level two pending accreditation and have refereed and logged twenty five Games at any UWHNZ Interzone competition. Individuals must provide their log of these games and have this log signed by an accredited and endorsed by a Level Three Referee.
